Organized skiing in this region (Primorsko-goranska County) started in the late 19th century. Ski Club Rijeka officially started its 50-year-old history in 1961 when it evolved from the Hikers’ Club Rijeka. Skiing activities and achievements were recorded for the first time back in 1953, when Rijeka took the title of best Croatian club at the Croatian Alpine Ski Championship. Since then, many generations and young competitors were a part of the racing team of the Club. Popularization of skiing and the Club began with the successes of Kostelić family, which improved the conditions for generations of young national team members, and especially for the members of the senior and junior national teams.

Today, Ski Club Rijeka has its young hopes in the national ski team, and they are: Dalibor Šamšal, Sebastian Brigović, Marko Abramović i Lana Zbašnik.

Apart from our national team members, the Club achieved notable successes at the Croski Cup where it took the 1st place in the overall standings four times (2004/05, 2005/06, 2006/07 i 2008/09) and 2nd place two times (2007/08, 2009/10). Ski Club Rijeka has 40 to 50 registered competitors each season and organizes ski schools for beginners and new members on Platak and various ski resorts in Italy.

Every year the Club successfully hosts several competitions: the Adriatic Slalom, Croatian Championships and Primorsko-goranska County championships as a part of the Croski Cup, as well as school and preschool competitions for our region.
